About Blythe Driveways

Where the name comes from

The River Blythe runs north through this part of the West Midlands, past Solihull and up towards Coleshill, and it gives its name to Blythe Valley on the edge of town. That is our patch, so that is the name.

What we do

Driveways, patios and paths. Resin bound, block paving, tarmac and stone. Domestic work, mostly for people replacing a drive that has sunk, cracked or gone green, and for people turning a front garden into somewhere to park.

We do not build extensions and we do not do soft landscaping. Hard surfaces and their edges, and nothing else. Sticking to one thing is why we are quick at it.

How we are different from the van that knocks your door

Driveways is one of the classic doorstep trades. Trading Standards publish warnings about it every year: cold callers, high pressure, a cheap headline price that turns out to be per square metre, and a bill that grows across a week. We work the opposite way round.

You contact us, not the other way round. We do not knock doors and we never turn up with spare material.
The price is written down first. Area, build-up, edgings, drainage, total. Before anyone starts.
No deposit before you accept. There is nothing to pay for the survey or the quote.
We publish guide prices. They are on every service page so you can check any quote, ours included.
We name the downsides. Sandstone goes green in the shade. Red tarmac fades. Concrete blocks lighten. You should hear that from us before you buy, not from the internet afterwards.

Local, and it matters

Knowing the ground saves you money. Much of the housing stock around Solihull sits on clay, which moves, holds water and eats badly built sub-bases. Older streets have narrow frontages where a machine cannot get in and the dig out has to go out by barrow, which changes the price. A firm that works here already knows which of those applies to your road before it turns up.
